Indian data brokers, ranked by how easy they are to escape.

A working scorecard for the twenty most-exposed Indian platforms, with average removal times, success rates, and the route that works best for each.

We rank Indian data brokers, people-search sites, classifieds, real-estate portals, and similar platforms on three dimensions:

  1. Effort: how much work it takes the average user to remove their data, on a 1 (one click) to 5 (multiple letters and possibly Board escalation) scale.
  2. Time: average days from first request to verified removal, based on our internal data over the past twelve months.
  3. Success: percentage of requests that close successfully within ninety days.

Our scoring is updated quarterly. The numbers below are as of May 2026.

The easy tier (effort 1 to 2, success above 85%)

These are platforms with functioning opt-out flows. Section 12 alone, sent through the published channel, almost always works.

  • Naukri: Effort 1. Average 12 days. Success 94%. The platform has a built-in profile-deletion option in account settings. Use that first; fall back to a Section 12 grievance email if the deletion does not complete.
  • Truecaller: Effort 2. Average 28 days. Success 92%. Unlisting via the platform plus Section 12 follow-up.
  • Shaadi.com: Effort 2. Average 15 days. Success 91%. Profile deletion in account plus a follow-up grievance email for the cached search index.
  • 99acres: Effort 1. Average 14 days. Success 88%. The contact-us form works; cite Section 12.
  • MagicBricks: Effort 1. Average 14 days. Success 84%. Same flow as 99acres.
  • Internshala: Effort 1. Average 18 days. Success 82%. In-app deletion.

The medium tier (effort 2 to 3, success 65% to 85%)

These platforms need a properly-drafted Section 12 letter. Standard templates rarely work.

  • Justdial: Effort 3. Average 21 days. Success 78%. Send to [email protected]. Reference your business listing or personal listing by URL. They respond, but often with partial action (public-facing removal complete, internal records retained). Follow up specifically on internal records.
  • IndiaMART: Effort 3. Average 30 days. Success 81%. Grievance officer at [email protected]. The platform's B2B nature means your data may be in seller-facing customer-relationship records that are not removed by the public listing removal alone. Be specific about which records you want removed.
  • NoBroker: Effort 3. Average 21 days. Success 79%. Their platform allows account deletion, but if your data was shared with landlords during a tenancy enquiry, that exposure persists. Send Section 12 covering both the platform record and shared records.
  • Sulekha: Effort 2. Average 18 days. Success 86%. Grievance form works.
  • Jeevansathi: Effort 2. Average 20 days. Success 85%. Like Shaadi but slower.
  • BharatMatrimony: Effort 3. Average 25 days. Success 80%. Multi-step verification before deletion; follow their procedure.
  • OLX India: Effort 2. Average 10 days. Success 89%. Their help system handles routine removal well.

For these, Vault.in's value is the drafting itself. A correctly-cited Section 12 letter has a noticeably higher success rate than a generic complaint.

The hard tier (effort 3 to 4, success 50% to 70%)

These platforms either do not have a clean opt-out flow, or have one that often fails the first time and needs escalation.

  • Tofler: Effort 4. Average 30 days. Success 70%. Pulls data from MCA filings. The platform itself can be persuaded to remove via Section 12, but the underlying MCA data is statutorily public. Removal from Tofler does not remove from MCA.
  • Zauba Corp: Effort 4. Average 40 days. Success 62%. Similar to Tofler. Slower.
  • KnowYourGST: Effort 4. Average 35 days. Success 64%. Public GST data lookups; removal is possible but inconsistent.
  • PolicyBazaar: Effort 3. Average 25 days. Success 73%. The lead-resale issue makes removal incomplete; downstream partners may retain your data.
  • TimesJobs: Effort 3. Average 28 days. Success 71%. BCCL-owned; slower response cycle.
  • InstaFinancials: Effort 4. Average 30 days. Success 68%. Director and company data aggregator; partial removal common.

For these, Vault.in's value is persistence: multiple follow-ups, the proper Rule 14 invocation, and escalation if needed.

The hardest tier (effort 4 to 5, success below 50%)

These are either government portals, statutorily-public records, or platforms with no functioning compliance function.

  • MCA Online: Effort 5. Success 12%. Statutorily public. Removal usually requires a writ. Section 17 exemption applies.
  • eCourts: Effort 5. Success 22%. Government court records. Removal case-by-case via court order.
  • IndianKanoon: Effort 4. Success 38%. Will honour anonymisation requests on case-by-case basis. Cite the Delhi HC right-to-be-forgotten precedent.
  • Udyam Registration: Effort 5. Success 8%. MSME registry; public by statute.
  • RERA state portals: Effort 5. Success 6%. Public by statute.

For these, Vault.in's value is honesty. We tell you on the day we find the exposure that this one cannot be removed by us. Sometimes the right answer is a writ petition; sometimes it is acceptance.

The leak and dark-web tier

These are not removable in the traditional sense.

  • Have I Been Pwned: not removable; data already public.
  • DeHashed: removable from public indexing within ~14 days; underlying breach data is not erasable.
  • IntelX: similar to DeHashed; indexing removable, source data not.
  • Russian dark-web forums: monitor-only; no removal route.

For these, Vault.in's value is monitoring and alerting, not removal. We tell you what is out there so you can rotate passwords, change exposed numbers, or alert your bank.

The headline number we use.

Across all platforms, our weighted average success rate within ninety days is around seventy-eight percent. The remaining twenty-two percent are roughly split: half are escalated to the DPB and eventually close (we have a separate success rate on DPB escalations of around sixty percent within six months), and the other half are in the statutorily-unremovable bucket described above.

We tell you this number on our home page because it is true. Beware any privacy service that quotes a number above ninety percent without showing you the bucket math.
